DIY natural remedies to get rid of toothache are still popular even in modern times. Many people prefer to apply for the advice of alternative medicine. There is a huge number of natural remedies to treat toothache and not all of them imply only mouthwash or ingestion of herbal decoctions and infusions. Traditional medicine uses the experience, which was the result of work of many generations of wise healers from many countries.

If teeth have any problem, the whole body will suffer a lot. The main problem which we face with teeth is toothache.

Toothache can be caused by an infection, cracked tooth, an impacted tooth, mouth injury, tooth decay, gum decreases or infections or even if food stuck between your teeth will also cause toothache. Once you faced the toothache problem, it won’t go away until you visit the dentist.

Salt Water

Salt helps to clean the area around the tooth and draws out the fluids which causing swelling and helps to reduce the toothache. Take 1 tbsp of salt and mix it well in a glass of warm water and see that salt has to be dissolved completely. Take this salt water into your mouth and gargle it. Repeat the process as needed.

Alcohol

Swish a bit of alcohol like whiskey, scotch, brandy or vodka. As we know that strong mouth wash that contains alcohol will helps to prevent the problem. Soak a cotton ball in the hard liquor like brandy, whisky or vodka and apply it on the affected part of the tooth will helps to reduce the toothache.

Vanilla Extract

Vanilla extract contains small amount of alcohol which helps to remove the bacteria causing toothache. Drench a cotton ball in vanilla and hold it in a place or you a use cotton swab dipped in extract.

Tea Tree Oil

It contains the anti-inflammatory and antiseptic property which helps to stop the swelling from your gums and nerves and it penetrates deep down inside the tooth and kills the bacteria causing the toothache. Take a cotton swab and add few drops of tea tree oil in it. Place it on the problem spot.

Or you can try it by just adding few drops of tea tree oil in a small glass of warm water and rinse your mouth with that water.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory property which helps to prevent the toothache. Vinegar has acidic property which helps to kill the bacteria causing the toothache. Saturate a cotton ball with apple cider vinegar and apply it on the problem place. You can also try the regular household vinegar.

Ginger

It has anti-bacterial property and prevents the swelling which helps to cure the toothache. Take a fresh piece of ginger and chew it in your mouth.

Garlic

Garlic contains antibiotic property which helps in slowing down the bacterial affects. Take a clove of garlic, smash it (either with salt or plain) and apply it on the inside cheek, where you have the problem or you can also try crush a clove of garlic and add some rock salt to it to make a fine paste and apply it on the affected part of the tooth to get the instant relief.

Peppermint Leaves

Peppermint has anti-inflammatory components which helps to reduce swelling and soreness in the affected area and prevents the toothache naturally. Take a fresh peppermint leaves and chew it for a while or you can also hold the dried leaves in the place where you get the pain. Or you can try Peppermint tea by taking 1 tsp of dried peppermint leaves into a cup of boiling water, steep for 20 minutes. Allow the tea to sit for cooling, then swish it around in your mouth and split it out. Repeat the process regularly.

Potato

Potatoes have anti-inflammatory property which helps to absorb the excess moisture and removes inflammation that causing the toothache. Take a fresh potato, cut if off in small piece and apply it on the place where the pain is coming. Or you can try by placing a mashed piece of potato with salt.

Lime

Lemon contains citric acid which reduces the inflammation destroying bacteria causing toothache. Vitamin C in lemon helps as immune system to remove the bacteria and infection naturally. Take a lime, cut it into slices and apply in on the place where the pain the coming, bite it to release some juice.

Onion

Onions have antiseptic and antimicrobial properties by which the toothache and its pain can be controlled. Take fresh onions and cut it into slices, chew the piece of onion for few minutes if not able to chew then hold it inside your mouth and bite it to get the juice to cure the pain and problem.

Plantain

Plantain leaves helps to prevent the toothache with its natural medical properties. Take fresh plantains leaves and chew it in your mouth. Once the leaf is macerated, apply it on the problem area and hold it to cure the pain.

Cucumber

Cucumber has antioxidant property which helps to reduce the toothache and soothing property which helps to reduce the pain. Take a fresh piece of cucumber and hold it on the sore area. If it is refrigerated, apply it on the problem area as it helps as a soothing agent or if you teeth are sensitive to cold, wait for few minutes to bring it to room temperature. Or you can also try by mashing it with salt and place it on sore throat.

Black Pepper

Pepper contains antibacterial as well as anti-inflammatory property which helps to get relief from the toothache. Take few black peppers and make it like a fine paste by adding some water to it. Apply this paste on the problem area and hold it for about few minutes.

Baking Soda

Baking soda has natural property to heal from the toothache and its pain. Take a cotton swab and moisten it in water. Now dip that swab in the baking soda, make sure that the swab has absorbed the soda and place it on the affected area. Or you can use it like a mouth wash by mixing a tbsp of baking soda in a small glass of Luke warm to warm water (depending on your wish). Swish the mixture in your mouth.

Cloves

Cloves have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial (allicin), antioxidant and anesthetic property which helps to cure the toothache. Take a clove and hold it on the affected area to get rid of the pain. You can also bite it to get the juice from it. Make fine paste with ground cloves and water or with ground cloves and olive oil, place it on the affected area.

Wheatgrass Juice

Wheatgrass naturally have antibacterial property which helps to heel the toothache by giving relief from the pain and helps to get rid of the tooth decay problem. Extract the juice of wheatgrass by using blender or mixture grinder and use this juice as a mouth wash. The juice when used will help to extract the toxins from the gums and reduces the growth of bacteria and at last controls the toothache. If you wish you can also chew the wheat grass for better results.

Guava

Fresh guava leaves are oldest remedy to get rid of the toothache problem. It eliminates the toothache pain, healing gums and mouth sores. The leaves contain powerful anti bacterial property which protects the teeth and gums. Simply chew one or two leaves of guava until the juice of the leaves comes out and start doing its action on the affected part of tooth. Or you can try putting 5-6 leaves in a glass of water and boil it for few minutes. Once the solution becomes warm and adds salt and use this mixture as a mouth wash. If it is not available you can replace these leaves with raw spinach leaves.

Salt & Pepper

Pepper is an antibacterial component and salt by its natural property reduces the swelling. Minerals in it can aid for healing. Take a pepper and salt in equal proportions i.e., 1/4 teaspoons. Add few drops of water to make it like a fine paste. Apply this paste on the affected part of the tooth and allow it to sit for few minutes.

Lemon

Squeeze the lemon juice and apply it on the affected part of your tooth either directly or with the help of cotton ball on the toothache every 10 minutes until the juice runs out. Lemon contains pain reliever and has anti-inflammatory and critic acid which helps to prevent the toothache.

Avocado

Avocado has antioxidant property to cure the toothache. Take avocado seeds in drain or toasted form and then blend it to make it fine powder. After that apply avocado seeds powder to the tooth where it is decayed and then cover it with cotton (not recommended for pregnant women).

Oils

Oils have a soothing and anti-inflammatory properties to get healed from toothache when it is applied and massaged gently on the affected tooth. Take few drops of oils like sunflower oil, sesame oil, oregano oil, nutmeg oil, clove oil and apply in the affected part either by swish it or with the help of the cotton ball.

Turmeric

Turmeric has antiseptic and antibacterial property which helps to heal the pain and toothache. Mix a tsp of turmeric powder with purified water and make it like a fine paste. Apply this paste on the affected part of tooth with the help of the cotton ball, if you want you can add honey to it. or you can try by just ingesting the raw turmeric or take its supplements.

Myrrh

Myrrh contains the astringent effects which helps to inflammation and kills the bacteria to prevent the pain and toothache. Simmer 1 tsp of powdered myrrh in 2 cups of water for about 30 minutes. Strain it and let it cool for few minutes. Rinse it off with 1 tsp of solution in a half cup of water for 5-6 times a day.
