Neem has the exceptional medicinal property and needless to mention how much it is popular everywhere in the world. It will not be a wrong statement if someone says you that in terms of health care, neem is an all rounder.

Scientifically named Azadirachta indica, neem is a tree of a mahogany family that is native the tropical areas of India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. India has taken advantage of the medicinal properties of neem for over thousands of years. In fact, “nimba,” the Sanskrit word for neem, translates to mean “good health.” This evergreen tree has flowers that bare fruits that turn golden when ripe. The neem tree also is resistant to droughts, as it requires little water and plenty of sunshine for survival.

Make a decoction from neem leaves and apply on your face to get rid of pimples. Skin infections and wounds are treated by regularly applying a paste made from neem and turmeric.

Arthritis Treatment with Neem. Neem leaves and barks are good at curing arthritis and relieving he pain and swelling due to arthritis. Massaging with neem oil relieves muscle ache, pain in joints, rheumatism lower back pain and also osteoarthritis.

Neem to Prevent Fungul Infections. It fights fungal diseases in the human body. Fungus can be a cause for lung infections, bronchi infection and could affect the mucous membranes. The symptoms of fungal infections are reduced and oral thrush is controlled by neem leaves. It used in case of chicken pox, warts, and small pox. Neem is great at healing herpes by absorbing the virus and preventing it from affecting entering the areas that are affected. Making a tea with neem leaves and applying neem ointment on cold sores gives your relief from the symptoms of herpes.

Neem Fights Cancer. Neem has many medicinal benefits, but one of the most important things is, it kills cancerous cells. Everyone has cancerous cells in their body, but normally, they are disorganized. However, if you create certain situations in the body, they will get organized. As long as these cells are loafing around by themselves, it is not an issue. If they all gather in one place and hit it off, it becomes a problem. If you consume neem every day, it keeps the number of cancerous cells in the body within a certain limit, so that they will not gang up against your system.

Neem Uses in Cosmetology

Boil a concoction of about 20 neem leaves in half litre of water till the leaves are soft and discoloured, and the water turns green. Strain and store in a bottle. Use this liquid as a skin toner by just dipping a cotton-ball into it and wiping your face with it every night. Regular usage will help in clearing acne, scars, pigmentation and blackheads.

In case you have a very sensitive skin and suffering from blackheads, dilute neem oil with water and apply it over the blackheads. Make sure that that you don’t use more than 2-3 drops of neem oil. Applying this regularly will help you in getting rid of blackheads and also prevent them from coming back.

To get rid of skin infection, prepare the concoction as mentioned above and add about 100 ml of it to your bathing water.

To get rid of acne, take about 10 neem leaves, boil them with small segments of orange peel in a little water. When they become a little soft, let them cook a little and then pound them into a pulp. Apply this to your face and let it sit till it starts drying after which you can rinse with cold water. This face pack will help in clearing acne and prevent breakouts. It also helps in getting rid of whiteheads and blackheads.

Neem is also popular in hair care as it is very beneficial for hair growth and general hair structure:

Neem to reduce hair fall and to get rid of dandruff: boil a handful of neem leaves in 2 cups of water till the leaves changes colour and the water becomes greenish. Use this water as the last rinse after you shampoo your hair. The anti-septic and anti-bacterial properties of neem help in getting rid of dandruff keeping your scalp healthy and help in stimulating hair growth.

Contraindications in usage of neem

  • Pregnant or nursing women should avoid using neem and other natural remedies without first consulting their physician.
  • Rashes, swelling, liver, and kidney damage are rare side effects seem with excessive doses of neem.
  • Children under the age of 12 should not use neem unless directed by their healthcare provider. If you are taking any prescription medication, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first before using neem.
